evaluation of their drilling optimization software in the Khanegiran Gas Field. The Khanegiran Gas Field is located 25 km northwest of Sarakhs and 180 km northeast of Mashhad, covering an area of 50 × 70 km², and contains the “Shurije B” reservoir. Under this agreement, Drill AI’s specialized technical team was deployed directly to the wellheads of the Khanegiran field in 2023 and 2024 to conduct software field trials and collect real world data.The first pilot test of the DrillAI software has been carried out in the operational area of the Mapna company.

Test Results
First Test (Late June–July 2023)
In this phase, the “Drilling‑Operation Recognition,” “Data Processing,” and “Rate of Penetration (ROP) Prediction & Optimization” modules were rigorously evaluated. The initial results achieved Mapna Drilling’s full satisfaction and garnered their official approval. Over the test interval, the ROP increased by approximately 30 %.

Following the success of the first test and in response to the needs of Iran’s and the global oil industry, the following new modules were developed:

  • Drilling Hydraulics
  • Drill‑Bit Selection & Optimization
  • Pipe‑Stuck Prediction & Well Cleanup
  • Lithology Prediction
 

Second Test (Feb 2025)
In this complementary phase, the software’s recommended controllable parameters—WOB, RPM, and Flow Rate—were measured at the same wellheads and compared against the operational settings applied by Mapna Drilling. The comparison demonstrated a high degree of alignment between the software’s recommendations and the company’s operational parameters.

Figure 1 displays the company man’s certificate for Test 1, which includes both the actual drilling parameters and those recommended by DrillAi. Figure 2 illustrates the actual drilling operation during Test 2. As shown, between 15:20 and 15:55, the parameters suggested by DrillAi were applied, resulting in a significant increase in the rate of penetration (ROP)—the green line—rising from approximately 5 m/hr to 11.49 m/hr. Figure 3 presents the specific parameters recommended by DrillAi for Test 2.


This successful application demonstrates the effectiveness of AI-driven drilling optimization. We sincerely appreciate the managers and engineers at Mapna Drilling for their trust in our software and their support in providing real operational conditions to test our  modules.
